SINGAPORE : For the first time, Singapore welcomed one million tourists in a single month.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) marked the occasion of ushering in one million tourists in July with a warm welcome across all of Changi's four airport terminals including the budget terminal.

The uptrend began some eight months back. In June, there were 950,000 visitor arrivals.

With some 6.5 million visitor arrivals as at July, STB is confident that it can reach its target of between 11.5 million and 12.5 million visitors this year.

"The second half of the year, again, is typically of a stronger performance compared to the first half of the year traditionally. So we are definitely optimistic that barring any surprises, we should reach our projections," said Lawrence Leong, Assistant Chief Executive, International Group & Corp Development Group, STB. - CNA /ls
