Interim office of Malay Language Centre opens at MOE Language Centre

SINGAPORE: The interim office of the Malay Language Centre of Singapore (MLCS) has begun its operations at the MOE Language Centre at the Bishan Campus.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Masagos Zukifli says the Centre already has plans for several training programmes for teachers.

Speaking at the 4th Arif Budiman Lecture Saturday, he says the lecture series is part of the programmes which the Centre will be offering.

The other training programmes in the pipeline include a trial of school-based curriculum with pilot schools and a training on strategies to teach Malay Language to students with different needs.

There will also be an induction programme for new Malay Language teachers, and mentoring programme for Senior Teachers.

Mr Masagos says the Malay Language Centre of Singapore would continue to provide ample opportunities for teachers to build their capacity in the teaching of the language. - CNA/jm
