SINGAPORE: A new Singapore record was being set today during a National Day celebration in the heartlands, with the largest national flag made up of die-cut stars.

Each of the 3,888 such stars were penned with well-wishes from students, volunteers and residents from Marine Parade GRC for Singapore's 45th birthday.

This flag measuring 16 by 24 feet will enter the Singapore Book of Records.

While the attempt to set the record was ongoing, residents from Marine Parade GRC also had fun with fringe events.
