SINGAPORE : Every Singaporean - whether you are at home or abroad - can be a part of this year's National Day Parade (NDP).
One of the highlights at this year's parade is a YouTube-style sing-along.
It's the brainchild of Boo Junfeng, visual effects director for NDP.
In the lead-up to this year's show, he spoke to Singaporeans from all walks of life on their thoughts about their homeland.
He even had some of them sing a tune, and captured it on video.
He hopes the multimedia aspect creates a more personal show by weaving the sentiments of everyday Singaporeans.
Boo said: "This year's show is more reflective, it's what Singaporeans feel about Singapore, and that is reflected through multimedia in the messages in the show.
"It definitely makes it more engaging because it is real, and people are able to relate to some of these messages as they come from people from all walks of life.”
This year's show "Red, White & Wow!" is a visual interpretation of the essence of the Singapore flag.
And students from nine schools help bring the show to life.
For most of the students, it will be the first time they will perform before an audience of 25,000.
During the whole performance, all of us are very nervous. But when all of us perform together, our nerves calm down, because you have the support of your friends," said Esther Porter, a student at Yio Chu Kang Secondary School.
This year's parade also has some new additions. The NCC's Command Band will be included for the first time. It is led by 15-year-old Master Sergeant Jerome Wong Zhen Hao.
He said: It's very nerve-wrecking, waiting for the parade to start and behind the curtain. It takes a while to overcome this and NDP has really trained me to overcome this fear and nervousness.
The parade participants have been rehearsing since April.
There are some new places where you can have an aerial view of this year's NDP - the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark, and the Sky Garden at Duxton@Pinnacle.
There are also 20 mobile stalls selling snacks and cold drinks at this year's National Day Parade. - CNA /ls
