Special Report: Youth Olympic Games

SINGAPORE : It was a very wet day four of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) torch relay on Wednesday.

But that was no sweat for supporters, whose cheers kept spirits up despite the downpour.

And they made sure the torchbearers didn't run alone.

Some followed on foot while others on their motorbikes.

Law Minister K Shanmugam also joined in mid-way, when the flame passed through his constituency of Chong Pang at Sembawang GRC.

Joining in too was the oldest torch-bearer - 82-year-old Ajit Singh - who played hockey for Malaya in the 1956 Olympics.

The flame ended the day's tour of the north-east region at Republic Polytechnic.

The Youth Olympic Flame travels to the south-west district tomorrow, kicking off at the SAFTI Military Institute. - CNA /ls
