SINGAPORE: The closure of the main road into Jiuzhaigou county in Sichuan province, has led to tour agencies coming up with alternatives for their groups.
The road was closed because of recent bad weather and the possibility of landslides.
However, tourists can still visit the popular nature reserve through domestic flights into Jiuzhaigou.
Tour agencies said they would need to top up air fare by S$300 to $400 to do so.
Other options include postponing trips or tours to other sites instead.
Hong Thai Travel is offering an additional night in Chengdu, while Chan Brothers recently rerouted its tour groups to Hailougou.
The agencies said business has not been affected much as it's currently off-peak season, and most customers prefer to travel by air, rather than road, into Jiuzhaigou.
"For some customers it will be a bit difficult because the news (came) quite (suddenly). And (for some of the customers whose tours are departing probably in the next week or so), we can understand why they are still insistent to travel to Sichuan. So within our capabilities, we will try our best to see how we can meet their expectations," Chan Brothers assistant manager, marketing communications, Jane Chang said.
