SINGAPORE : In Diving at the Youth Olympic Games, China have bagged another gold, this time in the Boys' 3-metre Springboard event.
Favourite Qiu Bo finished with 607.15 points for the gold, some 41 points ahead of silver medallist Oleksandr Bondar from the Ukraine.
American Michael Hixon picked up the bronze.
As for Athletics, in the Boys' 200m final, China's Xie Zhenye took the gold in a time of 21.22 seconds. Japan's Keisuke Homma came in second and took the silver, 5 hundredths of a second behind. Germany's Patrick Domogala took the bronze.
Earlier, Russian Maria Kuchina bagged the gold in the Girls' High Jump, with a height of 1.89 metres. The silver medal went to Italy's Alessia Trost, who cleared 1.86 metres. Poland's Aneta Rydz took the bronze and with a personal best of 1.79 metres.
Over in the Girls' 3,000 metres, Kenya's Gladys Chesir came in first to claim gold with a personal best of 9 minutes 13.58 seconds. Japan's Moe Kyuma came in second with a time of 9 minutes 23.7 seconds. Also achieving her personal best was Greece's Aikaterini Berdousi who took the bronze a further 14 minutes back.
In the Boys' 3,000 metres, Eritrea's Abrar Osman has won his country's first gold, in a time of 8 Minutes 7.24 seconds. The silver went to Ethiopia, while Morocco got the bronze.
Over in the Boys' 10-kilometre walk, Ukrainian Igor Lyashchenko won the gold with a time of 42 minutes 43.93 seconds. Ecuador's took the silver, with Russia claiming bronze.
In the Girls' Javelin, Kateryna Derun of Ukraine won the gold with a throw of 54.59 metres. Cuba's Lismania Munoz Barcelay clinched silver, while bronze place went to USA's Hannah Carson.
In the Boys' shot put final, Krzysztof Brzozowski of Poland won the gold with a distance of 23.23 metres. New Zealand's Jackson Gill came in second with 22.6 metres. And the bronze went to Germany's Dennis Lewke who managed a distance of 21.22. All three medallists threw personal bests.
In Artistic Gymnastics, China's Tan Sixin grabbed her second gold of the night in the Girls' Floor Exercise Final with 14.525 points.
Romania's Diana Bulimar got the silver with 14.325 points and Russia's Viktoria Komova took the bronze.
In the Boys' Horizontal Bar Final, Great Britain's Sam Oldham was awarded the gold with 14.375 points.
Spain's Nestor Abad took the silver with 14.125 points and Zhu Xiaodong of China got the bronze. - CNA/ms
