Others prefer to get into the action.
Swimming is riding on the popularity generated by Youth Olympic silver medallist Rainer Ng.
One swim instructor has seen a 20 per cent increase in enrolment, as some parents set their sights on competitive swimming to turn their children into champions.
Jimmy Tai, swim instructor, Swim Jimmy Swim, said: "The mentality of parents has changed a lot because (of) a lot of exposure now.
"Parents are looking at all the competitions going on during the YOG period and also the children themselves are getting involved. So they are looking at the competition as a platform for themselves."
