SINGAPORE : A mass was held at Singapore's Church of the Holy Spirit on Thursday evening to mark Mother Teresa's centennial birth.
President S R Nathan was among the guests.
The mass is part of a worldwide event to mark what would have been the nun's 100th birthday.
She died 13 years ago, at the age of 87.
Mother Teresa was known for her extraordinary love for poor and homeless people.
The ethnic Albanian nun set up her Missionaries of Charity, an organisation which now runs more than 500 charity homes in over 100 countries.
She went to India in 1929 at the age of 18, took up teaching, and became an Indian citizen in 1948.
Mother Teresa started working in slums and later set up the Missionaries of Charity, which was approved by the Vatican in 1950.
