SINGAPORE : Team Singapore athletes may have beaten the odds and overcome the challenges at the Youth Olympic Games, but they took on a new challenge on Saturday.
Nine of them made a special appearance on SportsZone, in a "live" show with sports journalists Raj Kumar and Philip Goh.
The hour-long programme was aired on MediaCorp's 938LIVE.
It featured achievers such as swimmer Rainer Ng, sailor Audrey Yong, football goalkeeper Fashah Rosedin and midfielder Jonathan Tan, as well as paddler Isabelle Li.
They shared with listeners their experience of competing in the Games, and spent time with fans.
It was certainly a memorable day for the athletes, especially for Isabelle, who won a silver medal at the Games. She also celebrated her 16th birthday on Saturday.
The experience of sharing their thoughts "live" on radio was refreshing and unnerving.
Isabelle said: "This is more (nerve-wracking) for me, because table tennis is what I do every day, but (this is different)..."
Clarence Chew, Team Singapore Table Tennis Player, said: "I have been to many interviews and live recordings, so I am starting to get used to it. At first, I was a bit nervous, but slowly I overcame it." - CNA/ms
