SINGAPORE: Several roads in the Telok Blangah area were closed to traffic for about two hours from 10am to 11.35am Sunday, after an object, believed to be a mortar shell, was found in the vicinity.

The roads affected included Henderson Road and Telok Blangah Heights.

Police were notified after a member of the public spotted the item at Telok Blangah Hill Park Saturday at 6.40pm.

Officers from the Singapore Armed Forces' Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives unit were then activated.

They rendered the object safe at around 11.30am.
