SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has paid tribute to the late broadcast veteran Chandramohan.
In his letter to Mrs Chandramohan, Mr Lee said Mr Chandramohan was a professional with a fine political sense.
He pioneered programmes like "Talking Point", "Friday Background" and "Diary of a Nation".
He also produced the TV news conference that Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew gave on 9 August 1965 when Singapore separated from Malaysia.
Prime Minister Lee said he got to know Mr Chandramohan in the 1980s and worked with him on a few shows he participated in.
It was then when the government needed to use TV more for explaining and discussing current affairs as well as political issues to engage the public.
Mr Chandramohan then proposed the programme "Today in Parliament".
It was a "demanding exercise", Mr Lee said, which Mr Chandramohan personally oversaw and made sure the programme was coherent and balanced.
Mr Lee added Mr Chandramohan always understood what needed to be gotten across and could be relied upon to propose the best way to do so.
