SINGAPORE : It is back to business as usual for three pre-school centres that were ordered to close due to outbreaks of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease.

They are Star Learners @ Sembawang, PCF Kampong Chai Chee and Glory Kindergarten in Bukit Batok.

To prevent further spread of the disease, the centres have since tightened their precautionary measures and hygiene standards.

At PCF Kampong Chai Chee, stricter health checks are conducted before the children are allowed into the centre. A few who did not make the cut were asked to return home.

Those who have recovered from the disease are also required to produce a doctor's certification before they can return to school.

The centre said overall attendance has not been affected in the wake of the closure.

The kindergarten was ordered to close for 10 days to break the transmission of the disease after it had some 19 HFMD cases over a period of 24 days.
