SINGAPORE: Singapore's next General Election is not due till February 2012. But the country's Elections Department has appointed its logistics contractors, ST Synthesis and SingTel, to carry out some site visits.

This is according to a note sent out by the Education Ministry's School Administration Services to schools. The note says the Elections Department's contractors will visit various Returning Officers' centres and polling stations from 1 September.

The process is expected to take about a month. The tasks which the teams will carry out will include taking photographs of parade squares at the nomination centre to examine where the external Public Announcement system can be set up.

They will also look at the multi purpose halls to check out telephone points. For polling stations, the teams will check out the school canteens.
