SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make an eight-day working visit to China from today till September 13.
Mr Lee will visit the municipalities of Chongqing and Shanghai, and the cities of Changsha (Hunan province), Wuhan (Hubei province) and Suzhou (Jiangsu province). A statement from the Prime Minister's Office says Mr Lee is scheduled to meet the leaders from Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei and Jiangsu. In Chongqing, Hunan and Hubei, Mr Lee will visit key Chinese and Singaporean companies.
He will also visit the Suzhou Industrial Park and the World Expo in Shanghai, where he will launch the East China leg of the 'Tasty Singapore Campaign' at the Singapore Pavilion. Mr Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Members of Parliament Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mrs Josephine Teo, Mr Michael Palmer and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the Economic Development Board. Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo will join Mr Lee's delegation in Suzhou and Shanghai. During Mr Lee's absence, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the Acting Prime Minister.
