SINGAPORE: 20 low-income families of job-seekers were the beneficiaries of aid from Malay self-help group Mendaki.
'Syawal Joy' - an initiative by its subsidiary Mendaki Sense - aims to encourage the spirit of sharing with disadvantaged families during the Ramadan holy month.
Each family received a S$200 hamper comprising Hari Raya goodies, S$100 cash and free hair cuts for their school going children, as well as food to break their fast.
Among the beneficiary is 38-year-old Madam Zulrena Mohd Osman.
The single parent managed to re-enter the workforce and ensured her children can go to school through assistance from Mendaki Sense.
Her 8-year-old daughter Nur Umairah also got a new hairdo from Suri Salon. - CNA/fa
