SINGAPORE: Two men, aged 45 and 53, believed to be responsible for a case of snatch theft involving an elderly woman, have been arrested.

The incident happened at a housing block in Yishun.

Police said on August 30, the 76-year-old victim was in a lift with a man when he snatched her gold chain and fled.

The suspect was spotted at the void deck of a block at Yishun Street 21 a week later.

The man fled when he saw the officers but was subsequently detained.

Following his arrest, the officers also detained another man believed to be his accomplice.

The victim's gold chain and pendant worth about S$130 have since been recovered.

The two suspects will be charged in court Thursday.

If found guilty, they can be jailed up to seven years and caned.
