SINGAPORE : Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim has urged Muslims to exercise moderation in celebrating Hari Raya on Friday.

In his Hari Raya message, Dr Yaacob noted that this year, Hari Raya is celebrated at a time when the country's economy is doing well.

This has enabled the Muslim community to celebrate the festivities on an upbeat note.

As the community revel in the occasion, Dr Yaacob reminded them to take into consideration their families' long-term well-being and their children's education.

Education, he said, is the key to the continued progress of the community and the nation.

He said the Muslim community must continue to give priority to their children's education to broaden their knowledge, to be resilient and forward-thinking.

He added that efforts to strengthen families and to create more opportunities for the young will continue.

On behalf of his Parliamentary colleagues, Dr Yaacob wishes the Muslim community "Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri".
