SINGAPORE : Singapore's Chief of Army, Major-General Desmond Kuek, who's now in Thailand on a 3-day visit, has been given a royal decoration.

The "Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand" was conferred on Major-General Kuek on Wednesday by Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, General Prawit Wongsuwan, on behalf of the Thai King.

Mindef says the presentation of the award underscores the warm defence ties between the two countries.

Singapore and Thailand have a long history of defence relations, with both armed forces involved in regular exchanges of visits and professional interactions. - CNA
