Singapore has seen a sudden infusion of artwork as it prepares to host the International Monetary Fund/World Bank meetings.
Up to 35 sculptures and paintings by celebrated master Salvador Dali have been flown in for the occasion.
Anyone passing through one part of UOB Plaza would be familiar with the work of the late Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali.
After all, the sculpture has been a common meeting point for office workers in the area for years.
But with the delegates of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank coming to town, Singapore's artistic landscape is seeing some new additions.
Of particular note, 5 more monumental Dali sculptures are on display.
These internationally renowned pieces are drawn from museums in Europe and the Opera Gallery and they are newly installed in the Central Business District, Orchard Road and Boat Quay areas.
Stephane Le Pelletier, Asia-Pacific Director, Opera Gallery, said: "Dali was never in Singapore except the piece at the UOB building. So we felt that having a full collection in the street during this IMF event would be a very good idea."
Scores of tourists and passers-by stopped by to admire the new installations.
"Fantastic! I haven't seen anything like it before. The unicorn one in particular just caught my eye. We were travelling on the river trip and saw them and had to come over and see them. They're great!" said one of them.
"It's great, I heard there's a few more downtown. I think it's great that we're having art outdoors, I like the concept," said another.
"It's very tasteful compared to a lot of the other things people try to do when they put art on the streets, so yeah it's a wonderful addition."
One of Dali's famous sculptures, Horse Saddled with Time, is also on display.
It features a recurring element in many of his pieces - the melting watch.
Singaporeans have just over a month to enjoy the celebrated artwork."
And for those who think they would like to keep these pieces in town, just know that all of them are for sale! - CNA/ch
