SINGAPORE : Singapore has welcomed the positive development of the agreement reached at the fifth round of the six-party talks focused on scrapping North Korea's atomic programmes.

A Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman said it was an important step forward, but added that there was still a long road to travel.

The spokesman said Singapore hopes that all parties would keep to their commitments.

It also hopes further progress would be made at the next round of the six-party talks next month. - CNA/ms
