MM Lee to visit New Zealand and Australia

SINGAPORE: Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Mrs Lee will visit New Zealand from Sunday till March 26.

After that, they will be in Australia from March 26 to April 6.

The Prime Minister's Office said while in New Zealand, Mr Lee will meet Deputy Prime Minister Dr Michael Cullen and Leader of the Opposition, John Key.

In Australia, he will meet Governor-General MAJ-GEN (Retd) Michael Jeffery, Prime Minister John Howard, Treasurer Peter Costello, Leader of the Opposition Kevin Rudd, and several other members of the Australian Cabinet.

Mr Lee will be conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by the Australian National University on March 28 in Canberra.

He will also travel to Sydney to speak at the Citibank Legacies of Leadership Series on April 3 to 4.

Minister of State for Education RADM Lui Tuck Yew, Minister of State for National Development Grace Fu, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education Masagos Zulkifli, and Josephine Teo Li Min, Member of Parliament for Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC will accompany Minister Mentor Lee during his visit to Canberra.
