SINGAPORE : The foreign and defence ministers from Singapore and Indonesia will sign the Extradition Treaty and Defence Cooperation Agreement in Bali on Friday.
The ceremony will be witnessed by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Both leaders had agreed that the two agreements should be negotiated in parallel and concluded as a package, when they met in October 2005.
After many negotiations, both sides concluded their talks on Monday evening.
Singapore Foreign Minister George Minister Yeo said officials had done good work in bridging the gap and crystallising issues.
He added that the talks had been characterised by a high degree of friendship, cooperation and goodwill.
Mr Yeo noted both sides needed a spirit of compromise to close the issues, and both agreements would lay a strong foundation for future cooperation.
Prime Minister Lee is heading to Bali with a delegation which includes Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang, Ministers of State Lim Hwee Hua and Grace Fu, and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Masagos Zulkifli.
The Singapore delegation will return on Saturday. - CNA/ms
