SINGAPORE : PrimaDeli, Singapore's first home-grown bakery franchise, is the latest eating establishment to receive the halal food certification from the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore.
PrimaDeli has 38 retail outlets island wide offering more than 400 varieties of pastries, buns, bread and cakes.
And after 15 years, it has decided to tap into the halal market and increase its customer base.
The certification process took one and a half years to complete and plenty of research was done to modify recipes without affecting taste.
With the halal mark, the company expects annual sales to increase by an average of 20 percent over the next three years.
Higher returns aside, it also hopes to provide business opportunities to the Muslim community under its franchise system.
Pansy Wong, Deputy General Manager, PrimaDeli Division, said: "We have a lot of enquiries on massive franchising overseas, from different countries as well, from Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines.
