SINGAPORE: Singapore's finest turned out on Sunday to watch the final of the Cartier International Polo Tournament between the Singapore team and Royal Mewar from India.

Polo is a game known as much for its on-field excitement as for its off-field glamour.

Matches are often attended by socialites with magnificent hats who are made comfortable with generous amounts of champagne.

It is also a game where players saddle up on ponies and attempt to drive a small ball into the opposing team's goal.

The Singapore team – which plans to bring back a silver medal at the next SEA Games – crumbled, unfortunately, under the pressure of the Indian team.

And the Royal Mewar won the game, 8-3.
