SINGAPORE: The Council for the Third Age has joined hands with local university UniSIM to offer courses to senior citizens.

The Council believes one is never too old to learn, and it will not be long before more elderly Singaporeans can have the chance to go back to school.

Council chairman Gerard Ee said it is important to create more opportunities for senior citizens to enjoy their golden years to the fullest.

Seniors can earn credits through courses, which can be used to pursue a degree in future.

Mr Ee said seniors would not be the only ones to benefit from attending courses, "It is a win-win [situation]. Just imagine a class where students are engaged in discussion over a subject matter with a mature student.

"Really, the seniors attending class... in addition to textbook knowledge have a whole wealth of practical experience, life experiences and so forth. Surely it must benefit the students". - CNA/yy
