SINGAPORE: Pedestrians can now appreciate urban art as they walk along Singapore's busy shopping district.
The Wheelock Art Gallery, located on Scotts Road, is a community project that showcases urban art as it is being created.
Local artist Zul Othman, featured at the gallery, will be completing five murals over the next two months.
"Normally when you go into an art gallery you see finished work. Mine is the process of art making so you see me in action, me doing my work and you can even come in and interact with me," said Mr Othman.
This is the first time property developer partners with the National Arts Council to help bring urban art to people on the streets.
"We call it an art gallery but it has nuances of a window display like a shop window as you see on Orchard Road," said Joanna Lee, artistic director of Wheelock Art Gallery.
With this one of a kind art gallery, "what we actually want to do is to make art accessible," she added.
Completed murals will be on display for one week before making way for new works.
The gallery will remain for two years. - CNA/ac
