SINGAPORE : Three Singapore government initiatives have made it to the world's top 20 innovations being considered for the international "Innovations in Transforming Government Award".
The first project is the "Citizen Connect Initiative", which increases the reach of government electronic services to Singapore residents.
This is achieved by setting up centres with computers all over the country.
Also nominated is "Mobile Government", which is for citizens to access information and services through mobile devices.
An example of such a service is assessing Central Provident Fund account balances via mobile phones.
The third project is "The Enterprise Challenge", which provides funding to test innovative ideas that have potential to improve how public services are delivered.
The nominated projects that make the top 20 list were selected from more than 100 applications from 30 countries.
The "Innovations in Transforming Government Award" is administered by Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government.
The winner of the award will be announced on 24 September. - CNA/ms
