SINGAPORE: Singapore is confident of putting up a good bid to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, despite stiff competition from other cities.
This update came from Parliamentary Secretary of the Community Development, Youth and Sports Ministry, Teo Ser Luck, who has just returned from Switzerland.
He was there for a two-day workshop from September 18 to 19, bidding among other cities for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games.
Mr Teo, the advisor to the Singapore Bid Committee, said that the workshop in Lausanne gave the five-member Singapore delegation a better understanding of what is required for the bid.
"Before the end of October, we need to submit a bid document. We have collected a lot of information back from Lausanne, which is the IOC Headquarters and we are going to put in what we think will be very useful for our bid.
"For the next few weeks, we will be preparing for the bid document. If we enter the second round after the submission of the bid, the evaluation committee might consider visiting Singapore and view all the sites, our programs and the presentation." - CNA/vm
