SINGAPORE: The sports safety guidelines were released last week and public opinions are now sought.

The Singapore Sports Council will review public's input and develop an implementation plan by the end of the year.

The recent spate of sudden deaths in sports prompted the need for recommendations on sports safety in five key areas, including compulsory screening for professional athletes, public education, and upgrading of sports facilities.

The 95-page report, available on
www.ssc.gov.sg, was put together by the 12-member Sports Safety Committee.

The public can go to
http://app.reach.gov.sg/olcp/asp/ocp/ocp01d1.asp?i to send their feedback from now until October 25. - CNA/ac
