SINGAPORE: Myanmar nationals in Singapore rally strongly behind the monks and protesters, and an SMS urging Myanmar nationals here to dress in red as a show of solidarity has also been circulated.

"We chose red colour because that represents the blood they have shed for our people, the country and our future. We really want to support them by showing our recognition to them. We also want the whole world to know that we are not… sitting back, letting them do anything cruel to our people," said Zeyar Lin Aung, a Myanmar national working in Singapore.

Mr Zeyer and his friends have also prepared a petition urging for stronger action against the military government in Myanmar.

They hope to submit the petition to the Singapore government after collecting as many signatures as possible from Myanmar nationals here.

Hundreds of Myanmar nationals working and living in Singapore also gathered at a Buddhist Temple along Ah Hood Road on Friday evening, offering prayers of peace and stability for their country and people back home.

Many of them were dressed in red as a show of solidarity.

It is understood that more prayer sessions at other temples are scheduled to be held on Saturday. - CNA/ac
