SINGAPORE: MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Charles Chong brought some humour to the chamber on Tuesday when he pointed out the gender bias in some sections of the Penal Code, where the offences applied only to the men.

He called for these sections to be updated.

It is currently an offence for a man to entice a married woman away from her husband.

Mr Chong said: "However, a woman who entices a married man away from his wife, which I think is more often the case, committed no crime.

"Perhaps she might have earned a bad reputation, but she is not guilty of any offence under the Penal Code."
