SINGAPORE : From next month, owners of commercial vehicles such as vans and mini-buses (with unladen weight not exceeding 1,800 kilogrammes) will enjoy lower season parking charges if their vehicles can fit into a carpark lot.

In a joint statement, URA and HDB say that with the implementation of the Euro IV emission standards, the unladen weight of commercial vehicles have increased although their sizes generally remain unchanged.

So the maximum unladen weight for commercial vehicles that qualify for the motorcar season parking charges will be raised from 1,500 kg to 1,800 kg.

About 900 season parking ticket holders are expected to benefit from the revision.

Instead of paying the season parking charge of between S$120 and S$185 per month for heavy vehicles, they will now pay season parking charge of S$65 for surface car parks and S$90 for multi-storey car parks in residential estates, and between S$80 and S$180 in commercial areas.

Those affected will be informed via letters from HDB or URA. - CNA/ch
