SINGAPORE : The lawyer for the full-time National Serviceman charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm, Dave Teo Ming, is applying to reduce his charges.

Teo is currently facing three charges of stealing a rifle from his camp, unlawful possession of eight bullets and carrying a knife in a public place in April without lawful purpose.

Teo Ming's lawyer, Abdul Aziz Yatim, says he is applying to the Attorney General's Chambers to reduce the charges, or the number of charges, or to change the charges.

He has until 21st December to submit his representations.

The lawyer for Teo's accomplice Ong Boon Jun is also trying to reduce Ong's charge of failing to report an offence.

Lawyer Amolat Singh has to submit his representations to the Attorney General's Chambers by 5th December.

The hearing continues at the High Court on 26th December. - CNA/ch
