KORAT, Thailand: Singapore’s football team took bronze at the SEA Games Friday, defeating Vietnam by 5-0 in the third and fourth place play-off.

Compared to their semi-final game against Thailand, the Young Lions showed a more confident play Friday, taking a 2-0 lead before the break.

The team added three more goals in the second half to bring home the bronze medal.

Singapore had not won a SEA Games medal in football since 1995.

Gold was once again won by host Thailand when they beat Myanmar 2-0 in the final.

This is the eighth SEA Games football gold for Thailand. - CNA/ac
