SINGAPORE: Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged Singaporeans intending to travel to Pakistan to reconsider their travel plans if there are no pressing reasons for them to do so at this stage.

The ministry said in a statement that it is closely monitoring the situation in Pakistan.

It added that if Singaporeans decide to travel to Pakistan, they should closely monitor news on developments there.

Those who decide to travel to Pakistan are urged to register with the ministry through its website at
www.mfa.gov.sg to enable the ministry to contact and render them the necessary consular assistance.

The ministry also encouraged those who are travelling to Pakistan to purchase comprehensive travel insurance.

As for Singaporeans already in Pakistan, the ministry advised them to take all the necessary precautions for their personal safety, including remaining in a safe location and avoiding areas where there is risk of disturbance. - CNA/ac
