SINGAPORE: The National University of Singapore (NUS) has launched a new Masters of Psychology (Clinical) Programme.

This will be the first postgraduate programme in Clinical Psychology, to be offered by a Singapore university.

The programme was developed after the Ministry of Health (MOH) revealed that promoting mental health and preventing mental illnesses are priorities in Singapore.

The new two-year full-time course, is an entry-level training programme. It is based on the scientist-practitioner model and is a combination of coursework, research, and practical experiences.

NUS said students can get a good theoretical foundation while learning techniques suitable in an Asian context.

As clinical psychologists work with people of all ages, this new course can improve the health and quality of life of many people.

The first intake of 10 students will begin classes in the new semester - in August 2008.

NUS said it can take in more students and those interested can visit the website at
