SAUDI ARABIA: Singapore's Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, who is now visiting Saudi Arabia, will deliver the keynote address at the Global Competitiveness Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday.

Now into its second year, the forum provides a platform for prominent personalities to share their thoughts about competitiveness.

Mr Lee was received by the Governor of Riyadh Prince Salman Bin AbdulAziz at the forum's inauguration ceremony Sunday night.

The organisers had special words of welcome for Mr Lee whom they hailed as the architect behind developing Singapore into one of the world's most competitive nations.

Government and business leaders, as well as academics, will discuss competitiveness in the fields of investment, health, training and education.

These are important areas for Saudi Arabia as it aggressively embarks on a path of economic reforms to attract more investments.

Saudi authorities want to turn such forums into a rich learning experience that will help improve the kingdom's investment environment and enhance its competitiveness. - CNA/ac
