SINGAPORE: A*STAR has signed a memorandum of understanding with six tertiary institutions to help get products from the laboratories to the market sooner.
These six institutions are Nanyang Polytechnic, Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic.
The formation of the Technology Transfer Network (TTN) will help create a platform for the schools to tap into each other's research, so no time is wasted on reinventing the wheel.
The idea is that Singapore, being so small, needs to focus on its relative strengths to get an advantage.
A*STAR said the MOU would help expand the local market's reach and penetration through collaboration in marketing activities to small and medium enterprises.
Lim Chuan Poh, chairman of A*STAR, said: "From the small and medium enterprises, they can talk about what they need and what the market is looking for. With an alignment, efforts become a lot more focused and directed."
