SINGAPORE: Singapore believes there is strong potential for future business collaboration with Finland.

Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang made this point at the Finland-Singapore CEO Roundtable on Wednesday.

The roundtable was held as part of the Finnish President's two-day state visit to Singapore.

President Tarja Halonen received a ceremonial welcome at the Istana on Wednesday morning where she was greeted by President S R Nathan.

Singapore and Finland share several similarities, among them - small population sizes and the emphasis on education and human resource.

President Nathan said both countries also look forward to strengthening bilateral trade and investments.

The Finnish leader also held talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The last time a Finnish President visited Singapore was in 1995. - CNA/vm
