Stolen vehicles from Malaysia worth S$2.2m recovered in S'pore

SINGAPORE: Stolen vehicles from Malaysia worth some S$2.2 million have been recovered by Singapore police and returned to Malaysia.

45 vehicles were recovered in 2007 from places like HDB carparks and trans-shipment area in ports here.

The vehicles were either driven or shipped into Singapore and intended for re-export to other countries.

Police said 17 people have been arrested and dealt with in connection with these cases.

They have been found guilty and sentenced to jail terms of between two months and a year. - CNA/vm
