Thai PM to make official visit to Singapore

SINGAPORE : Thai Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej will make an official visit to Singapore from March 18-20.

His visit is at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The visit is part of Prime Minister Samak's introductory visits to regional countries since being sworn into office on 6 February 2008.

A statement from Singapore's Foreign Ministry said Prime Minister Samak will call on President S R Nathan.

The Thai Prime Minister will have separate meetings with Prime Minister Lee, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean.

Prime Minister Lee will also host Prime Minister Samak and his delegation to an official dinner.

Prime Minister Samak will be accompanied by Minister of the Prime Minister's Office Jakrapob Penkair and senior officials from the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Royal Thai Army and the National Economic and Social Development Board of Thailand. - CNA/ms
