SINGAPORE: Authorities have – as a precaution – instructed all Nong Shim shrimp crackers to be pulled off the shelves immediately.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) issued the recall because the company which makes the snacks, sent out an advisory note after a suspected rat's head was found in a bag of its shrimp crackers.

Nong Shim is South Korea's largest processed food maker.

The South Korean company has stopped producing the snack pending investigations. It is also recalling the product from shops across South Korea.

AVA advises consumers who have bought the products to discard them.
