SM Goh starts six-day official trip to India

SINGAPORE: Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is making a six-day official visit to India from 23-28 March.

He will visit India's capital New Delhi as well as Chandigarh, the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana.

The Prime Minister's Office says the visit is part of the regular high-level visits between Singapore and India.

In New Delhi, Mr Goh will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and other Indian Cabinet ministers.

They include Minister of External Affairs Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr Kamal Nath, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia.

Mr Goh will also meet other political leaders, including the leader of the opposition, Mr L K Advani, and the Indian business community.

In Chandigarh, Mr Goh will meet the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Parkash Singh Badal, the Chief Minister of Haryana Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and other state leaders.

Mr Goh will be accompanied by Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Balaji Sadasivan, MP K Shanmugam, senior government officials and business members of IE Singapore's Network India Steering Committee.
