INDIA: Top businessmen from India's northern states of Punjab and Haryana will send a delegation to Singapore to explore opportunities of cooperation here.

Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, who is now in India, had made the suggestion during meetings with them over the last two days.

During a briefing with the Chandigarh administration, Mr Goh reiterated that a business delegation can look for areas of mutual interest in Singapore.

Opportunities also appear aplenty for Singapore companies as Punjab expands its infrastructure by developing a major transport project.

Similar opportunities were unveiled on Wednesday when Mr Goh called on the Governor of Punjab, General (retired) Sunith Francis Rodrigues, who said Chandigarh will be building a bullet train system from New Delhi to the Federal Territory.
