SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man was charged in court on Wednesday in connection with a spray attack at Golden Landmark Shopping Complex, which saw the evacuation of shoppers and tenants on Monday.
Businessman Seow Min Fu, together with an accomplice, is alleged to have caused hurt to Mr Goh Chin Hock, 45, on the first floor of the complex at around 4pm.
Seow is charged with spraying the contents of an aerosol can into the victim's eyes. The incident led to 18 people being hospitalised for breathing difficulties, skin irritation and nausea.
No mention was made of what the substance in the can was, but police had stated earlier that it was believed to be pepper spray.
Seow, a grey-haired, stocky man with a moustache, appeared calm when the charge was read to him.
The accused, who is being remanded for further investigation, said that he would be engaging a lawyer.
His case has been adjourned to April 2. If he is convicted, he could be jailed up to seven years, fined and/or caned. - TODAY/fa
