SINGAPORE : Albirex Niigata and Gombak United shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw on Friday night, in their NTUC Income-Yeo's S.League 2008 clash at Jalan Besar Stadium.

It was the Bulls who were the happier of the two sides, after they clawed their way back from an early 2-0 deficit.

Albirex coach Hiroaki Hiraoka was disappointed with the result.

"Looking at the score, this was a game that we could have won. But the way Gombak played, it was probably a fair result," he said.

Gombak's goals came from their African imports Gabriel Obatola (20th-min penalty) and Bah Mamadou (89th min), cancelling out Tetsuya Okayama's fifth-minute opener for Albirex and Akira Takase's strike on 18 minutes.

In a game that could easily have gone either way, Albirex had the upper hand in the tactical stakes in the first-half, while the Bulls' mettle saw them control the game after the break.

Gombak coach Swandi Ahmad was happy with the comeback.

"We showed great character to come back from the two soft goals that we gifted them in the first half," he said. – TODAY
