SINGAPORE : MediaCorp has launched a free software for readers to access the latest digital edition of the TODAY newspaper.

The MediaCorp EasyReader allows readers to stream the paper into their computers through the Internet, and readers can read it anytime they want.

Readers can also highlight passages, add notes or print.

The freeware is modelled after the Times Reader by the New York Times.

There are also plans to make MediaCorp's magazines and other content available on the EasyReader in the future.

Readers can download the freeware from www.todayonline.com.

"We will never be able to print enough papers to satisfy the demand. So the alternative is to have a two-pronged approach. Apart from increasing our circulation, we're also looking at distributing the paper through the digital media. TODAY online is the first newspaper in Singapore to use the PDF version of the newspaper. What you see in print is what you see online," said Philip Koh, Managing Director of MediaCorp Press & Radio. - CNA /ls
