SINGAPORE: A study by Meridian Junior College students showed that 56 per cent of Singaporeans are willing to travel an hour or more to their favourite eateries.

The study also found that the eastern part of Singapore is a food-lover's paradise, with the highest concentration of acclaimed eateries in East Coast, Changi Village, Bedok and Geylang.

The students asked more than 100 Singaporeans a list of food-related trivia questions.

The junior college students are taking part in the Singapore Land Authority Spatial Challenge - a competition aimed at encouraging schools to use the Geographic Information Systems.

Twenty-three teams from 15 institutions participate in the competition, and eight teams will be selected to present their projects at the finals on 23 April. - CNA/ac
