SINGAPORE : A childcare centre, which had a number of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases among its children, re-opened on Wednesday.

The centre located at Bukit Panjang Ring Road had voluntarily closed for two days on April 7 and 8.

The centre said it had closed because it did not want the number of HFMD cases to spread, and not because it did not meet the Health Ministry's hygiene regulations.

There were 13 cases in total. The first was reported on March 10, while the last case was reported on April 1.

Out of 70 students, about 20 students were back at the centre on Wednesday. - CNA/ms
